- During operation, the suspended material is drawn into the core of the homogenizer by a rotor turning at up to 30,000 RPM. The material is repeatedly cycled through slits in the probe where it is rapidly sheared and disintegrated. Although not included, there are generator probes available for solid/liquid, or tissue media up to 250mL volume samples:

- Complete homogenization of tissues (muscle, liver, breast tissue, etc.) is usually achieved in a few seconds with little, if any, heat produced during the process. The homogenizer is easily controlled using its 6 position control dial.
- The D160 drive is a great option for small samples due to its light weight, easy to hold design. The dirve is 1.5lbs with dimensions of 2.5 x 2.5 x 8 inches.
