21-100.1, Oxoid™ Nutrient Agar No. 2 is explicitly prepared with VBE and Oxoid™ Nutrient Broth No. 2, specified by Maron & Ames, Mutat. Res. 113: 173, 1983. These plates are used for general growth and CFU determinations of Ames S. typhimurium and E. coli WP2 strains in the Ames assay. MOLTOX® prepared media and media components are specifically formulated for use in bacterial mutagenicity assays.
