Sodium Sulfite ACS is a crystalline or powdered form that is white in color. Consisting of sodium ions (Na⁺) and sulfite ions (SO₃²⁻), sodium sulfite is an inorganic salt that dissolves easily in water. It is widely used as a reducing agent and is extensively utilized in different industries. Used as an inorganic sodium salt with sulfite as the counterion, sodium sulfite ACS is given the chemical formula Na2SO3. It is stable for laboratory use.

Applications of Sodium Sulfite ACS Grade

It may be used as a reducing agent in arylboronic acid and arylboronic ester hydroxylation to corresponding phenols, in the conversion of α-amino alcohol methanesulfonate hydrochlorides to sodium α-amino alkanesulfonates.

Used as a scavenger of oxygen and free chlorine, it is utilized in water treatment. It is also used in the production of sodium thiosulfate, detergents, and dyes.

ACS sodium sulfite is used in the separation and purification of aldehydes and ketones via adduct formation with them.
