Tetrahydrofuran (THF) ACS is a clear colorless liquid organic. The chemical formula of tetrahydrofuran is C4H8O. It is water miscible and possesses good solubility in a broad array of solvents. Because of the formation of organic peroxides upon long-term storage, THF is typically stabilized with the addition of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). BHT absorbs the free radicals needed for the peroxide to form. Tetrahydrofuran is otherwise referred to as Butylene oxide, Oxolane and Tetramethylene oxide. It is a four-carbon compound and one oxygen atom bonded in a ring structure to create a cyclic ether. ACS grade Tetrahydrofuran has high purity and quality thus it finds various industrial applications.

Applications of Tetrahydrofuran (THF) ACS Grade

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) ACS has numerous applications as a solvent in organic synthesis and is extremely common in reactions with organometallic compounds and Grignard reagents.

It is widely used as a precursor to polymers in most polymer manufacturing industries.

THF is used as an industrial solvent for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and in varnishes.

Key Features of Tetrahydrofuran (THF) ACS Grade

ACS Grade Quality: Meets or exceeds the ACS standards of purity for quality use in demanding laboratory and industrial applications.

Excellent Solvency: Excellent for dissolving a variety of chemical compounds such as resins, polymers, and salts.

Low Viscosity: Facilitates fast mixing and diffusion in manual as well as automated systems.
