| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric rat antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | OX-45 binds specifically to CD48 on rat thymocytes, T and B cells and endothelium but not LFA.3. Directly competes with CD46 for binding the target epitope. CD48 is a CD2 ligand and is expressed on the surface of all hematopoietic cells and endothelium. May be involved in the facilitation of interactions between activated lymphocytes. Likely to be involved in T cell activation. |
| Application Notes: | Describes the use of OX-45 in blocking the primary mixed lymphocyte response (MLR)and the secondary response of T lymphocytes to the soluble antigen DNP-BGG. It also showed that OX-45 did not have any effect on the cytotoxic activity of specific (CTL) or non-specific (NK) killer cells or on proliferative responses stimulated by lectins or oxidative mitogenesis. |
