Chimeric Use Statement: This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Rabbit IgG format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement: This antibody is specific for the extracellular domain of human recombinant transmembrane-truncated (DTM) αvβ5 integrin, a dimeric cell surface protein that mediates cell attachment. αvβ5 integrin is also involved in tumour growth and angiogenesis.
Application Notes: This antibody has been used to specifically bind αvβ5 in Western blots and in flow cytometry (Goodman et al, 2012), revealing that cell lines HT29 and A549 strongly express αvβ5, with lower levels of expression by the M21 and M24 lines. This antibody also specifically stains αvβ5 in FFPE (formalin fixed paraffin embedded)/TMA material (Goodman et al, 2012; Heß et al., 2014; Roth et l, 2013), while murine antibodies are typically unable to detect FFPE-embedded integrins.
