| Application Notes: | The binding characteristics of this antibody have been assessed in flow cytometric analysis; this antibody binds to N. meningitidis group B and E. coli EV36 (Shin et al, 2001). It does not react with N. meningitidis groups A, C, and Y, and is non-autoreactive, as it does not react with human neuronal α(2-8) polysialic acid (Shin et al, 2001). This antibody has been used in a sandwich type ELISA to investigate the cross-reactivity of bacteriophage clones displaying the antigenic properties of serotype 6B pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide (Shin et al, 2002). In the presence of rabbit and human complement, this antibody exhibits bactericidal activity (Shin et al, 2001). |
