Vector Labs Ab01163-23.0 Anti-alpha-Gal [Gal13], Rabbit IgG, kappa (200 μg)
Quick Overview
This antibody was raised by immunising BALB/C mice, which express α-gal epitopes, with rabbit red cell membranes, on which α-gal is the major carbohydrate epitope.

| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgM format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody is specific for α-gal epitopes (Galα1–3Galβ1–4GlcNAc-R) on glycosphingolipids. |
| Application Notes: | This antibody binds to synthetic α-gal epitopes linked to BSA and to α-gal epitopes on glycolipid molecules from rabbit and bovine erythrocytes (Chen et al, 2000; Galili et al, 1987). However, in contrast to monoclonal anti-Gal antibodies originating from α1,3GT knockout mice [M86; B1H2; B4H2], this antibody does not bind to α-gal epitopes on carbohydrate chains of natural glycoproteins. This antibody has been used to confirm that Galαl-3Gal glycosphingolipids are expressed at low levels by human erythrocytes (Galili et al, 1987). |
