| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric rat antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognises CD79a which is involved in initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by binding of antigen to the B-cell receptor. CD79a is used as an adjunct to CD20 for detecting normal and neoplastic B cells in tissue sections. |
| Application Notes: | CD79a is strongly expressed in various B-cell-derived conditions and thus this antibody is useful during identification and investigation of such diseases (via IF, IHC) (Mason et al., 1991). One group utilised it for immunofluorescent labelling of CD79a containing cells in bone marrow samples of pre-B lymphocyte acute leukemia patients (Mason et al., 1991). HM57 antibody can also be used for IP as it was very efficient in immunoprecipitating CD79a from NP-40 cells lysates (Mason et al., 1995). Finally, this antibody has been widely applied in veterinary research and proved successfull in recognising CD79a in various species, from chicken to dog (Doring et al., 2018). |
