| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognises Human Cytomegalovirus envelope glycoprotein g (HCMV gB). Human Cytomegalovirus gB also known as Envelope glycoprotein B (gB) is a protein that plays a roll in host cell entry, cell to cell virus transmission and fusion of infected cells. It has been shown to interact with host integrin ITGB1, PDGFRA and EGFR that likely serve as postattachment entry receptors. The protein also participates in the fusion of viral and cellular membranes leading to virus entry into the host cell. |
| Application Notes: | 5A6 antibody might be used in the neutralisation of Human cytomegalovirus as well as in its detection via various methods. For instance, it has been demonstrated that this antibody was capable of identifying HCMV via flow cytometry (Gardner et al., 2016). Furthermore, 5A6 might be utilised in the assessment of the infection level of cells contaminated with HCMV (Gardner et al., 2016) as well in the immunoprecipitation procedures (Gardner et al., 2016). |
