| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognises Interleukin-8 (Il-8) which is a neutrophil chemotactic peptide. It is secreted by many different cells which had been activated by inflammatory stimuli. It is specific to Il-8 and does not bind to other chemokins, such as C5a, platelet factor 4 or β-TG. |
| Application Notes: | This antibody is an Il-8 antagonist and prevents binding to neutrophils, which might be used in research aiming at treating asthma (before or after its onset) (US5874080A). Furthermore, this antibody inhibits both Il-8-dependent neutrophil chemotaxis and neutrophil elastase release (US5874080A). |
