| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognizes human desmoglein-2. This clone does not cross-react with Desmoglein 1 or Desmoglein 3. The epitope is within the extracellular domain (EC3/EC4) of Desmoglein 2/DSG2. Desmoglein-2 is part of a cadherin protein family and is involved in the creation of desmosomes. |
| Application Notes: | The antibody 6D8 has been used successfully to identify and analyse desmoglein-2 via various methods. For instance, it was utilized to label desmoglein 2 in melanoma tissue samples via immunohistochemistry to investiagete expression pattern of DSG2 in this cancer (Tan et al., 2016; pmid: 27340778). Furthermore, this antibody was also used to label DSG2 during flow cytometric analysis of cells (Tan et al., 2016; pmid: 27340778). The antibody 6D8 has also been applied in a Western blot detection of desmogleins in transfected A-431D cells (Wahl, 2002; pmid: 11991815). Finally, this antibody immunoprecipitated desmoglein-a from A-431 cell extracts prepared in 0.1% Empigen BB (Wahl, 2002; pmid: 11991815). |
