| Chimeric Use Statement: | This reformatted mouse antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognizes the amino acid sequence 537-MKRSGYGQPIA-547 within site A of the S protein, located in the receptor-binding motif (RBM) region of the transmissible gastroenteritis coronavirus (TGEV). |
| Application Notes: | This antibody is capable of neutralizing TGEV and recognizing it in an immunodot blot assay. The antigenic site of the S glycoprotein of TGEV where the monoclonal antibody binds was identified using competitive RIA (Correa et al., 1988; PMID: 2453977). Additionally, this antibody can recognize the TGEV spike protein in ELISA and be used to detect site A of the S protein in Western blot analysis, specifically for investigating the effect of glycosylation on antibody binding (Gebauer et al., 1991; PMID: 1711257). The Fab format of this antibody was crystallized in complex with the TGEV coronavirus Spike fragment (Reguera et al., 2012; PMID: 22876187). |
