Chimeric Use Statement:This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement:This antibody is specific for human EpCAM.
Application Notes:The binding affinity of this antibody for human EpCAM was determined using surface plasmon resonance and ELISA. The scFv version of this antibody was used to immunohistochemically stain human carcinoma cells, colonic epithelium, colon carcinoma and melanoma (PMID: 9836471). This antibody binds EpCAM-positive Kato III cell line in a flow cytometric assay. The IgG2a format of this antibody was used for the immunohistochemical analysis of normal human tissues and cancerous tissues. In immunohistochemical studies, MOC31 showed binding towards colon cancers, breast cancer and lung cancer with epithelial origin (PMID: 24525727). This antibody is also reported to be used in differentiation between adenocarcinoma and reactive mesothelial cells (PMID: 10603193). This antibody was also used for immunohistochemical staining of adenocarcinomas (PMID: 16329115).
