| Chimeric Use Statement: | This reformatted human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Human Fab format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | The antibody is specific for the testosterone molecule. Testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males. |
| Application Notes: | The binding characterization of the antibody was done using ELISA. To show the effectiveness of this antibody, a competitive immunoassay was performed on the serum of unknown patients using the human version of this antibody. It was compared to a commercial testosterone kit. The results were comparable (WO1999012974). The original Fab fragment of this antibody, having 5 optimised CDRs, showed 32-fold higher relative affinity to testosterone, 60-fold lower cross-reactivity to DHEAS, 2 fold lower cross-reactivity to 5α-DHT and over 9-fold lower cross-reactivity to androstenedione compared to the original monoclonal antibody (Ari Hemminki, 1998; ISBN 951-38-5343-8). |
