Vector Labs Ab02768-7.1 Anti-Heparan Sulphate Proteoglycan [A7L6], Rat IgG2a, kappa (200 μg)
Quick Overview
The original rat IgG2a version of this antibody was raised by immunizing fisher rats with high molecular mass material from the Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm (EHS) tumor matrix containing laminin, entactin and HSPG, and fusing the spleen cells of these rats with mouse myeloma X63 Ag8.653 cells.

| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognizes and precipitates perlecan, a major heparan-sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) within all basement membranes and cell surfaces. This macromolecule has the power to store and protect growth factors, and thus plays a major rol in the control of tumour growth. |
| Application Notes: | This original IgG2a rat clone can be used to detect and analyze the presence of perlecan. The specificity towards this protein has been confirmed using immunoprecipitation (Couchman, Ljubimov, 1989; PMID: 2477673). The perlecan was confirmed to reside in the basement membrane by means of immunofluorescence using this antibody (Couchman, Ljubimov, 1989; PMID: 2477673). Immunohistochemical staining confirmed that this clone also cross-reacts with other mammalian creatures (Couchman, Ljubimov, 1989; PMID: 2477673). In addition, one group used western blotting and immunohistochemical staining to detect significant differences in weight and distribution of antibodies across heparan sulfate proteoglycans (Tingbø et al., 2006; PMID: 16459119). |
