Chimeric Use Statement:This full-length chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Human scFv format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement:This antibody recognizes a discontinuous epitope located on two different location of the p35 protein comprising amino acids 15-19 aa and 232-237 of the orthopoxvirus. This epitope is also present on ectromelia virus, vaccinia virus, variola virus and cowpox virus.
Application Notes:This antibody is capable of recognizing ectromelia virus (ECTV), vaccinia virus (VACV) and cowpox virus (CPXV) in an ELISA. This antibody also neutralized variola virus (VARV) in a plaque reduction neutralization test. This antibody was reported to demonstrate a dose dependent inhibition of plaque formation after infection with VARV, VACV and CPXV. This antibody is also capable of recognizing a 35 kDa protein from ECTV, VARV, VACV, and CPXV and orthopoxvirus, which are encoded by the open reading frames orthologous to the ORF H3L in VACV (PMID: 29427674).
