Vector Labs Ab03040-1.29-BS Anti-Cn2 toxin [BCF2], Mouse Fab fragment, His-Tagged, kappa (1 mg)
Quick Overview
The original antibody was generated by immunizing female BALB/c mice with a conjugate comprising thyroglobulin and a fraction II-9.2 (which contains toxins 2 and 3) of the Centruroides noxius (mexican scorpion) venom in Freund's complete adjuvant.

| Chimeric Use Statement: | This reformatted mouse antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody binds the mammal-specific Cn2 toxin found in the venom produced by Centruroides noxius Hoffmann (Mexican scorpion). This antibody binds an epitope on the Cn2 toxin that is different from the binding epitope of another anti-Cn2 toxin antibody 6009F. |
| Application Notes: | The binding specificity and characterization of this antibody towards Cn2 toxin of scorpion Centruroicles noxius was tested using ELISA and RIA. This antibody was capable of inhibiting binding of C. noxius toxin 2 to rat brain membranes in vitro and neutralizing the toxin acitivity in vivo in mice (PMID: 1371253). It was reported that the Fab fragment of this antibody was capable of neutralizing both the Cn2 toxin and whole soluble venom of scorpion Centruroides noxius (PMID: 8875771). The scFv version of this atnbidoy did not shoe any neutralization acitivity in vivo due to its less stability (PMID: 15713481). |
