| Specificity Statement: | This antibody recognizes human, cynomolgous monkey and rhesus monkey NKG2D, but does not cross react with mouse rat, dog or pig NKG2D. Natural killer (NK) cells serve as key innate effectors and their activity has been considered a prognostic biomarker in diverse human diseases. NKG2d functions as an activating and costimulatory receptor involved in immunosurveillance upon binding to various cellular stress-inducible ligands displayed at the surface of autologous tumor cells and virus-infected cells. It provides both stimulatory and costimulatory innate immune responses on activated killer (NK) cells, leading to cytotoxic activity. I also acts as a costimulatory receptor for T-cell receptor (TCR) in CD8+ T-cell-mediated adaptive immune responses by amplifying T-cell activation. and participates in NK cell-mediated bone marrow graft rejection. |
| Application Notes: | This antibody is capable of recognizing NKG2D in an ELISA. This antibody was successful in staining and identification NKG2D expressed on PBMCs isolated from human, cynomolgous monkey and rhesus monkey in a flow cytometric assay (US7879985). This antibody was used to study the distribution of NKG2D on human peripheral blood cells by flow cytometry (PMID: 15048706). The immobilized version of this antibody was reported to show agonistic activity (US7879985). |
