Chimeric Use Statement:This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement:This antibody specifically recognizes the ABCDE ring portion of ciguatoxin CTX3C and 51-OH-CTX3C. This antibody does not cross react with other toxins like brevetoxin A (BTX-A), brevetoxin B (BTX-B), okadaic acid (OA), and maitotoxin (MTX). Ciguatoxins are the major causative toxins of ciguatera seafood poisoning (CFP). Ciguatera is a foodborne illness caused by eating reef fish whose flesh is contaminated with ciguatoxins.
Application Notes:This antibody can be used to detect ciguatoxins in a sample using ELISA. It was also used in the development of a sandwich ELISA to detect CTX3C at the ppb level. Dissociation constant of this antibody for ciguatoxin CTX3C was Kd = 2.8 nM (PMID: 12812503). This antibody was also used in combination with another antibody 3D11 for effective neutralization of ciguatoxins in vitro and in vivo (PMID: 19254735).
