| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody binds a continuous epitope (cryptotope) on the coat protein of Potato virus V. Potato virus V (PVV) is a member of the economically significant plant virus genus Potyvirus, family Potyviridae. The virus has flexuous filamentous particle which are approximately 760 nm in length and have a positive-sense RNA genome of ~9851-nucleotides that has a covalently linked 5′-terminal viral protein (VPg) and a 3′-terminal poly A. This strain was found to have deviated from Potato virus Y (PVY) and has subsequently been reported in potato cultivars in Andean region of South America and parts of Europe including Netherlands, Finland, Scotland, Norway and Sweden. PVV is transmitted in a non-persistent manner by aphids. |
| Application Notes: | The binding characterization of this antibody to potato virus V coat protein was done using ELISA. This antibody does not cross react with potato virus Y and potato virus X strains. This antibody does not bind whole PVV virions in plate-trapped antigen ELISA. This antibody was capable of detecting potato virus V from infected leaf tissues in a western blot (PMID: 10648933). |
