A plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT) demonstrated that the antibody neutralized RVFV with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values ranging from 2.1 to 3.0 μg/mL. The antibody protected against RVFV challenge in a murine infection model. The structure of rift valley fever virus Gn in complex with the Fab fragment of the antibody was determined, revealings that the antibody targeted to the membrane-distal head region of RVFV Gn (Allen et al., 2018; PMID: 30590046). |
