Chimeric Use Statement:This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement:This antibody is specific for benzo[a]pyrene, which is an organic compound belonging to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). Benzo[a]pyrene is one of the isomeric forms of benzopyrene. It comes from certain substances when they are not burned completely. It is found in car exhaust, smoke from wood fires, tobacco, oil and gas products, charred or grilled foods, and other sources. Traces of Benzopyrene are found in soil and water. It is also a causative agent for skin rashes, burning feeling, skin color changes, warts, bronchitis and even lung cancers.
Application Notes:This antibody was used in the development of a sensitive ELISA for the detection of benzopyrene in water. The average IC50 for B[a]P and corresponding detection limit at a signal : noise (S/N) ratio of 3 was 65 ng/L and 24 ng/L. This antibody also cross reacts with chrysene,indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene, and benzo[b]fluoranthene (PMID: 15965533).
