| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | This antibody binds human acidic isoferritin. Ferritin is a protein that catalyzes the oxidation of ferrous iron(II) to ferric iron(III) and stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. Ferritin is important for iron homeostasis. Ferritins occur as many isoforms, all of which are composed of various combinations of the two primary subunits, H and L. Acidic isoferritins have high proportions of H subunit. |
| Application Notes: | The binding specificity of this antibody towards acidic isoferritin, basic isoferritin and human liver ferritin was determined using ELISA. This antibody does not cross react with basic isoferritin and human liver ferritin. The binding affinity of the original mouse IgG1 format of this antibody for acidic isoferritin was reported to be Kd= 4.15 nM. This antibody was used for the immunohistochemical staining of liver tissues of primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC)(PMID: 11604110). This antibody can be used for the identification of acidic isoferritins in a western blot (PMID: 12697395). |
