Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa which converts factor X to the activated form Xa in the presence of calcium and phospholipids. Defects in the F8 gene, which encodes Factor VIII, result in the coagulation disorder hemophilia A. |

It was reported that this antibody potently inhibits the coagulation activity of factor VIII in vitro at a concentration of 10 ng/ml. This antibody does not inactivate FVIII bound with vWF but inactivated FVIII free from vWF (US20040120951). |
