Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa which converts factor X to the activated form Xa in the presence of calcium and phospholipids. Defects in the F8 gene, which encodes Factor VIII, result in the coagulation disorder hemophilia A. |
| Application Notes: | The inhibitory activity of this antibody against factor VIII was determined using a one-stage clotting assay. This antibody was capable of completely eliminating FVIII inhibition by CLB-CAg 117, a C2 domain directed anti-factor VIII antibody (PMID: 10627462). |
