| Chimeric Use Statement: | This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Llama VHH format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. |
| Specificity Statement: | The antibody is specific for HCEC. |
| Application Notes: | The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis (US8715659B2; Muruganandam et al., 2002; PMID: 11772942). The original format of the antibody bound to the vesicular and the membrane fractions of HCEC, and it was taken up by living HCEC, as shown by fluorescence microscopy. The antibody could transmigrate across an in vitro human blood-brain barrier (BBB) model. The antibody was also also detected in the brain after i.v. injection into mice (Muruganandam et al., 2002; PMID: 11772942). The antibody was able to transport across rat BBB, as demonstrated by in vitro and in vivo studies (Xiao et al., 2013; PMID: 23840214). |
