Chimeric Use Statement: This is a reformatted human IgG1 Fc Silent Fc Silent™ antibody, based on the original human IgM format, created for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
Specificity Statement: This antibody binds human CD26, a cell surface glycoprotein receptor involved in the costimulatory signal essential for T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T-cell activation.
Application Notes: This antibody was capable of increasing the proliferation of purified T cells in the presence of exogenous interleukin 2 (IL2) or phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) (Knapp W et al., Oxford University Press 1989;417-418). An increased IL2 secretion in T cells cultured with PMA plus 134-2C2 mAb was observed and Northern blot analysis showed that the mAb 134-2C2 acts synergistically with PMA favoring the induction of both IL2 and interferon-gamma mRNA synthesis, as well as the enhancement of IL2 receptor and transferrin receptor mRNA expression (PMID: 1673434). This antibody was used in the flow cytometric analysis of CD26 expression by nylon wool T cells and purified CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocyte subsets (PMID: 1356916). This antibody can also be used used for immunohistochemical analysis of CD26 in frozen tissue sections.
