Specificity Statement:This antibody binds the A35 protein of the monkeypox virus. Mpox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus which can be transmitted to humans through physical contact with someone who is infectious, with contaminated materials, or with infected animals. It can cause a painful rash or mucosal lesions which can last 2–4 weeks, enlarged lymph nodes and fever. Monkeypox mortality rates range from 0%-11% in the general population and are higher in young children. In Q3 of 2024, the WHO declared monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. This product serves as a powerful tool for related research efforts.
Application Notes:This antibody can be used for the detection of A35R protein of the monkeypox virus through an ELISA. The binding affinity of the original VHH antibody for A35R protein of monkeypox virus was reported to be Kd= 1.42X10^(-10)M. This antibody can also detect monkeypox virus A35R protein and inactivated virus in a western blot (CN116751285).
