Specificity Statement: This antibody binds the B6R protein of the monkeypox virus. This antibody also cross reacts with vaccinia virus. Mpox is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus which can be transmitted to humans through physical contact with someone who is infectious, with contaminated materials, or with infected animals. It can cause a painful rash or mucosal lesions which can last 2–4 weeks, enlarged lymph nodes and fever. Monkeypox mortality rates range from 0%-11% in the general population and are higher in young children. In Q3 of 2024, the WHO declared monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. This product serves as a powerful tool for related research efforts.
Application Notes: This antibody can be used for the detection of B6R protein of monkey pox virus and vaccinia virus using an ELISA. In vitro, this antibody is capable of neutralizing monkeypox and vaccinia virus with an IC50 of 0.019 µg/mL and 0.02 µg/mL respectively (CN117683122).
